If there was a popup, it certainly doesn't populatorate itself up where it should when you're gaming in fullscreen!

XP did this too. I had to track down the settings deep in the bowels of the Control Panels to tell the stupid thing to stop it. I lost hours of work the first time. I would have loved to issue a swift boot to the head to those engineers. To me, that sort of update setting *as a default* (it's dumb as an option at all, but to set it as the default?) is simply beyond incompetence and into malicious territory.

You said it far more politely than I ever would. And yeah, as above, I had this issue with XP as well.
